While at Steinberg Hart, Ashley Biren was an Intermediate Designer responsible for developing the University of La Verne’s newest student housing and dining hall. She was one of the core members taking the design from schematic to construction documentation. University of La Verne’s residence and dining hall facility was envisioned to be a home away from home for the university’s freshman students on campus. A new campus quad was designed as a hub for student activity and student life, linking the campus center to the adjacent student residence - Vista La Verne. The new development offers the university’s first dining facility and a large open green space conducive for interaction among students. At ground level, the entry invites students to use the lounge for social and recreational activities, in addition to a communal kitchen for students living in the residences. Throughout the housing on the upper levels, the design team at Steinberg Hart ensured moments of interaction by implementing lounge spaces and meeting points for students to interact, convene, and study.
